7.Защитатворческогопроекта.
Teacher: Your classmate Akoko Liza has prepared a computer presentation about our native coat of arms and the flag of Chukotka. She wants to send it to her American mail-friend but first she wants us to watch it and to give her our wishes.
Coat of arms
The polar bear is a striking feature of Chukotka’s coat of arms. The traditional symbol of the region, it also signifies power. The other colors and shapes all have meanings too. The violet background denotes wisdom and night; the yellow of the map, the gold that has provided the area’s wealth; the blue circle, nobility and the oceans; the rays, the Northern Lights; and the stars, Chukotka’s eight regions.
Chukotka’s flag is a white triangle on a blue back ground. It symbolizes the peninsula’s position in Russia’s extreme north-east corner with a snowy arctic land surrounded by the vast blue oceans and skies. The colors also hint at the white nights of summer and the dark nights of winter. The Russian state is represented by the tricolor in the centre of the triangle. The yellow ring that surrounds it denotes the rising sun which starts Russia’s day in Chukotka. Yellow also denotes gold and represents the yarar-a tambourine with great ritual significance and a symbol of the Chukchi people.
